Missouri Flood Is Seen Short-Lived NEBRASKA CITY, June 12 Missouri river reached a stage of 18.1 feet here today, but reports from upstream Indicated the crest was diminishing rapidly and the peak here was expected to be short-lived. A crest of 18.4 feet, a fraction under the 60 year record set last month, la anticipated. At Blair a fall ot one foot to 18.4 was reported this morning. The stage at Omaha was 18.1, compared with 18.3 last night. Volunteers repaired an eight foot break in a dike near Percival, yesterday and saved thousands of acres from inundation, Farmers southeast of Nebraska City worked at temporary dikes in an attempt to save several thousand more acres.

Senator Reed Eyes Kansas Governorship WASHINGTON, June 12 Senator Reed (r-Kasr). said today he had reached no conclusion on suggestions that he become a candidate for governor of Kansas. Asked for comment on reports from Kansas that his campaign manager had announced he would resign from the senate to run for governor, the senator said: "During the two or three weeks that I was at home recently, this possibility was numerously suggested. I have reached no final conclusion, therefore there is nothing for me to say about it now." Reed, who was governor of Kansas from 1929 to 1931, said he would reach a decision prior to June 20, the deadline for political candidates in the state to file for a position on party primary ballots. Frank J. Tapee Pvt. Frank J. Tapee was born February 28, 1920, and departed from this life on Thursday morning, May 28, 1942, at the station hospital at Camp Roberts, Calif. He attained the age of 22 years and three months, and died with the sacraments and blessing of his religion administered by Father Owen Managhan, A N.

chaplain 52nd field artillery battalion. He was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tapee, to join the service of his country. He came to Beatrice with his parents in 1930.

He grew to young manhood here. After leaving school he worked in Beatrice for a while and then went to work for his uncle, owner of J. H. Tapee Wholesale Fruit company at St. Joe, Mo Later he joined Co.

755 CCC camp at Pawnee City, where he stayed until inducted into the army on April 18. He was stationed at Camp Roberts, in Company of the 55th field artillery. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Sylvia Tapee, and a sister, Mrs. Don Hubbard, and three brothers, Technician John Tapee, Pfc. Edward and Robert P.

Tapee, besides many relatives and friends. A military funeral was held at Camp Robert, and the body was brought to Beatrice, guarded enroute by Pfc. Mike M. Mateef. Funeral services were held from St.

Joseph's church here, Father Francis of Havelock officiating. The American Legion squad fired a salute over the grave. Burial was in Catholic cemetery beside the remains of his father, who passed away about two years ago. He also has two deceased brothers. FROM WAR TO WAR NEWPORT, R.

Mankind will become perfect in proportion as this fact becomes apparent, war, will cease and the true brotherhood of man will be established. Having no other gods, turning to no other but the one'perfect Mind to guide him, man is the likeness of God, pure and eternal, having that Mind which was also in Christ" (p.

Walsh. Burke pleaded guilty to two charges of causing death by driving while under the influence of liquor.
