Defiance of State Authority. Cincinnati, 0., Feb. 14. Special to Thb Express Direct orders have bfen given to each separate company" of the Eighth regiment, with headquarters at Canton to proceed to this city tonight. It is expected that ths Eighth regi ment, Ohio National Guard, will take possession of Saengerfest hall, here to morro w.

President Hobart of the Saeugerfest says the meeting between Jeffries aud Ruhlin will eome off, as no meeting cf the court appeals will be held until after Judge Hollister shall have gives down his decision. The city is filling np with sports and pugilists who sesm confident that the match will be pulled off in deflaaee of the stat authorities. The state authorities are cqunlly determined that the fight shall be suppressed', while the general public here seem be indifferent as to the outcome STATUS OF AFFAIRS TODAY. Th question today with the pugilists and their followers has been as to the lime of the postponement. It is conceded that if Judge Hollister grants the appli cation for a permanent injunction the postponement will be for some weeks, so as to give them time to carry the case through the circuit court and thence to the supreme court for settlement.

The members of the Soengerfest Ath letic association, as weil as the manag ers of the contestants, insist that they will not attempt to proceed if a perma nent injunction is issued against them, and the geueral opinion is that such will be the reudering of the court. Jeffries and all the members of the large party that are with him at his training quarters ca me into the city tonight from Price Hill and enjoyed a sociel session with the local and visiting sporting editors. Manager Brady and his assistant, VA Cook, were with them. The disappointment of the visiting sporting men, as well as of the pugilists and their managers is very apparent and a leading topic of all their meetings There is mwch discussion as to what is to be done for the preservation of championship and other contests as one of the branches of sport. INJUNCTION ORANTKD.

Cikcixnati, Feb. 14, 2:24 p. in. Judge Hollister has just granted the applica" tion for a permanent injunction. Will Hum's Statement.

Following is the statement in full of William Hern, the victim of the Le- Hum shooting -sera pein this city at noon Sept. 30 last, which he has tiled in dis trict court, askiug the dis nissal of the case egfiin-t Dr Lee: State of Nebraska, Gage County Wil liam Ham beiig the complaining witness in the case of the State of Nebraska Waiost William F. Lee, and the one of all others who has most to complain of. if complaint should be made, desire to make thm state ment, in truth and fairness toward Dr. Iee, with whom I had the trouble on fcept.

30. I state that I conscientiously feel and be lieve that I was to blame for the shooting done by Dr. Lee at that time. I was the aggressor. After a few angry words passftl between him and myself 1 struck uim twice in quick snecefsion on the head, staggering bim to the wall, and before he recovered from the effects of the blow.

I grappled him in endeuvorinu to get him down and had hie head packed down toward the floor and well when the second shot whicn struck me was fired. I do not ee how he mimaired to pull the gun off toward me at this shot, an be could hardly see me in the position 1 had him at the time and he must have just pushed the pistol back and fired without aim and with out consideration as to the amount of injury that might be inflicted. At the time it was fired he evidently thought bimnelf in a perilous situation, as it seems I was a much stronger man than he. For the reason that I feel that I wae to blame and that Dr. Lee did what he did in self-defense and that the occurrence and in jury to me ie greatly regretted by him and for the reason that a Partner prosecution of the case will be of no advantage to meor the public and will only make" costs for th county to pay.

with no public good, 1 do not desire that the case be further prosecuted and it ie wish that the county at torney snail not hie an information against Dr. Lee n-nd that the ease muy be dismissed. William IIithk. Boots and Trousers Law. Representative Murphy cf St.
