Glinn Morton O. Glinn Morton, 77, 1200 S. Eighth Beatrice, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 4, 2000, at Beatrice Community Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1922, at Strafford, and was a 1940 high school graduate in Springfield, Mo.

He served in the Army Air Corps from Oct. 12, 1942, to Jan. 20. 1946, as a Ball Turret gunner in a B-17 in the Pacific. On Nov.

13, 1944. he and Evelyn Staccy were married in El Paso, Texas. He was a journeyman electrician from 1946 until bis retirement in 1980. He moved to Beatrice from Dixon, in 1998. He was a member of the IBEW Union, and had been an elder of the Church of Christ in Waynesville, Mo.

He enjoyed CB radio and scanners, fishing, and Nebraska football. Survivors: wife, Evelyn; daughters, Leona Shanks of Dover, Linda Lindell and husband Clifton of Beatrice; grandchildren, Terry Neal, Jeff Foster, Victoria Shanks, Christopher and Melissa Lindell; five great-grandchildren; sister, l.ottiebelle Cullison and husband Carl of Springfield, brother, Lloyd Morton of Sedalia, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spurgeon and Lucy (Fitch) Morton; daughter. Leslie Herndon (1998); and grandson, Sean Shanks (1999). 111'.

3, 2000. He was born Feb. 2, 1912. at Burchard, attended School District 39 in Pawnee County, and graduated from Burchard High School in 1929. He also attended sheet-metal school in Lincoln in preparation for work in the aircraft industry.

On Aug. 18, 1933, he married Doris O. Bennett of Pawnee City. He farmed for a few years before working at Boeing Aircraft in Plattsmouth during World War II, and then with Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, for 20 years. Upon retiring from the State of Kansas school system, he moved to York in 1978.

He enjoyed raising a garden each year, especially tomatoes and cucumbers. Survivors: wife, Doris; daughters, Janet Gartner of York, Kristen Leitschuck of Topcka. grandchildren, Fred Gartner and wife Sheryl of Lincoln, Shirley Lindquist and husband Steve of Stromsburg, David Gartner and wife Pat of York; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, J.M-.
